About Me

Chicago, IL, United States
I'm just your average opinionated Bears fan. Over the years, I've gradually earned a reputation with my friends for writing ridiculously long e-mails relating to anything "Chicago Sports." I've decided to spare them the hassle of automatically clicking the 'delete' button, and created this blog instead. Why limit the reach of my obnoxious blabbering? Why not let the entire public see the rantings of DLP? My hope is that I can inspire other opinionated Chicago fans to speak their minds freely. I know you're out there. THIS is your medium...

2009 Regular Season Week 7 - Bears @ Bengals

"Bears fail...and I'm angry...and I'm back...and I'm lengthier than ever"

and so begins my vent sesh...

I'ts been a while kids...but I feel the need as a fan to finally speak out once more....

So I'm coming out of retirement to comment on our latest attempt at resembling shit swirling down a toilet...

Well fellas...

If that wasnt a wake up call....I don't know what is.

6-10 anyone??? IF we are lucky?

lets see...

We have the browns next week...which if we dont win...will make me a full on Saints fan...for good...
Then we lose 4 games until we hit the Rams...
By that time...with our luck...the rams will have probably hit their stride and we will lose to THEM too...
But lets just say we beat them...
Anyone arguing we lose the next three after that? yeah...didnt think so.
Then the lions...and we could potentially lose that too with how things are looking...

BEST case scenario - 6 and 10.

Likely scenario -- 4 and 12.....

After last nights game....consider me graciously bowing out of the Bear optimist category...

At the beginning of the season, everyone believed that with Cutler coming in, supposed improvements in the O-line, Marinelli working with the D-line, receivers stepping up, Forte coming off of a monster year....

....It was hard NOT to have every belief that this team had what it needed to perform this season.

After the first game in GB...we considered it a fluke...figured it would take a little time for them get in synch right?

yeaaaahhh...no...

The next couple of games...we SURVIVED...

Everyone was looking for the lines on both sides of the ball to prove that they were improved...but they didnt... the only reason we survived those games is via other players stepping up...(ie the usual Briggs, Cutler, Knox, SP Teams)...which simply temporarily masked our true problems....or distracted us from them, really....

...you cant argue with a win....but we should have been....(arguing that is).....because even in our wins...it should have remained clear that our problems were not truly resolved.

So the problem is...and always was...the O-line and the D-line.

And perhaps the bigger problem is that we have a staff that sincerely believed that it had righted a tilting ship...or at least suggested that they had righted the ship...over and over again. Well....the ship is fucking upside down, if not already at the bottom of the sea.

So pick one...are you dumb? or are you lying?

You are dumb if you believed you fixed it...and youre lying if you knew you hadnt. I dont know which answer I want to hear. But honestly...as a fan, I think I need to finally hear SOME real answers. I'm tired of everyone on the staff acting like nothing is wrong from week to week...like we are always just a game away from busting out into playoff worthy play...

This is ridiculous...and its more than just a bad couple of games...

THIS IS CONSECUTIVE SEASONS OF PURE SHIT AND DISAPPOINTMENT...this is not just one game, or one season that I am using as ammunition...

Every year, its something else....

When Rex was blowing it...all we needed was a running game....

When forte was the answer to our running game....it was ortons fault....so we bring in Cutler...

When cutler blows...its cause we dont have receivers...or because our defense had a bad game...or whatever...

does anyone else see this??!? Excuses,.... constantly...im done listening to them...

this is not a PLAYER problem....

yeah...i think we have some lazy, lax attitude players right now....

But everyone is lazy...inherently...its the coaches job to give incentive...to give inspiration...to reward guys with work ethic and to spare me the pain of watching people that dont have it....those players without heart....why are they on my team?

I'd literally rather have a fat ass mentally retarted D lineman that will leave his damn heart on the field...rather than these seemingly 'athletic' peices of shit that dont seem to care.

To me, its an issue with the coaching...

It is a coaches job to get these players ready to play every week....and its simply not being done.

The coaching staff has two foreseeable excuses....or supposed reasons why things arent working out as they expected...neither of which are really that acceptable...and in reality, its probably a horrible combination of both problems.

Either they believe that they are not bringing in the right players, or they are not DOING enough week to week to prepare those players...or to improve them...

They either suck as long term future minded coaches (drafting, trades, ect)...or they suck as short term present minded coaches (in-game adaptations, gameplanning, football innovation, teaching)...

Theres no getting around it guys. Its one or the other...(or in my opinion for this case...BOTH)

I've ALWAYS thought that Chicago had a larger problem with the latter. Terrible in-game coaching....and in the same sense, if you arent that smart during a live game, you cant be that good at foreseeing what that live game will bring you...and thus you will do a poor job in preparing your team for the next opponent week to week.

NOW...im starting to see...that they really arent all that good at bringing in quality talent either...so what ARE they good at??...

The obvious, but painful answer is....nothing. We suck. Someone needs to take Cutler, Briggs, and Knox....and start ALL over. And they need to do it now.

I'm obviously over-reacting and dont truly believe this...maybe in an ideal world...

But realistically we all know it cant be done like that...

So, one can assume....one may ask...alright smarty pants, "How would YOU fix this....realistically?"

Well...I dont get paid millions of dollars to KNOW what to do....but I do have some logic....and I will tell you what that logic might suggest be done....

Draft only offensive lineman...make trades...teach new guys the positions.....do whatever you have to do to get that QB (whom is now our last hope...our only potential savior till 2014) protected...he NEEDS space to do his job...and if you put that much money into a franchise QB...you better put money into all those areas (O-line) that let him earn his money...

...instead, our money is being spent having him fall all over the field, or (potentially) sitting on the bench with an injury received while being chased around like hes the cutest girl in grade school and is running from a bunch of horny 5th grade boys. Real efficient use of MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

I dont care about ANYTHING else. The first thing that needs to happen is, we need an O-line in Chicago....a young one...one that can grow with Cutler. No more vets...vets are lazy...and they've already made their money...and have their path cleared to the hall of fame or whatever....get them the FUCK off my team. Bring in a smart offensive line coach...and make it happen...

THIS SHOULD BE A NUMBER ONE PRIORITY -- OVER ALL ELSE...Sparing no expense...with no other considerations...forget about the defense or the receivers....its not going to matter until you take care of this.

The O-line significantly impacts:
-the health of your quarterback
-the success of your quarterback
-the success of your running game

Are these not the three things that we have been struggling with for YEARS???!? How long does it take YOU to figure out where the REAL problem is???!? How long should I be comfortable with it taking the Chicago coaches?? Let me give you a hint. ONE year is too long. One WEEK is too long.... How do you think I feel about SIX years?! I dont...

I dont feel a god damned thing anymore....

With a franchise QB, an O-line, and a D-line.......

thats the start of a team.....

fill in the other positions in any which way you want....the foundation is there....and the rest will fall into place.

This isnt rocket science....

...and I'm not going to do.....what everyone THINKS I'm gonna do.....which is....JUST FREAK OUT...

but yes....yes i am going to do that...

I'm tired of being associated with complete idiots. I deserve better as a fan. I'm ASHAMED that I love the Bears. By doing so, I basically have to admit to the world, everyday of my life, that I am a fan of COMPLETE retards...that I believe in people suited only to fail...that I never learn my lesson...that im illogically and blindly faithful....and that I follow the leadership of a passionless, football retarded, coaching staff.

Listen...I SUPPORT the Special Olympics...

I'm not a FAN of the retard that runs in one of the events....

you see where I'm goin with this???

I'm a fan of this football team because I thought they were a real NFL team...

If all they want is my SUPPORT...cause they are all god damned retards....then fuck...lets all just frolick around the field....no need to be competitive at all...

This is the NFL...this is a business....run it like one...

...or go run a summer camp for retards.
