About Me

Chicago, IL, United States
I'm just your average opinionated Bears fan. Over the years, I've gradually earned a reputation with my friends for writing ridiculously long e-mails relating to anything "Chicago Sports." I've decided to spare them the hassle of automatically clicking the 'delete' button, and created this blog instead. Why limit the reach of my obnoxious blabbering? Why not let the entire public see the rantings of DLP? My hope is that I can inspire other opinionated Chicago fans to speak their minds freely. I know you're out there. THIS is your medium...

2007 Regular Season Week 1 - Bears @ Chargers

What the hell kind of an ugly game was that one last night?.........

jesus, that was messy (Cards - 49ers). Both games last night were close though so that was nice. At least it kept it interesting. I feel like I had a football marathon though. Damn that was a lot of football for one night. They should do the double header every Monday.

But what about the bears people...what does everyone think the affect will be of losing Dvorcek and Brown? Does anyone feel as bad for Brown as I do? Anyone see his interview that he had to stop midway through because he was so emotional? I am not pleased.

One could argue that our defense has not changed much due to the injuries. That may be true from a talent standpoint for Dvoracek. And the argument could be made that we are just back to what we were last year without Brown, which isnt all that bad...but I think Brown brought more to the defense than his speed or his tackling ability.

I was really excited to have his knowledge of the game back. Did anyone else notice that he was all over the damn field? The other thing that bothers me is that he is such a Bear. He is, and always has been so loyal, and so bummed about not being able to contribute for so long.

What a terrible streak of luck this guy has had. How does this shit happen to the same person 3 times in a row? Seriously, is it just bad luck? Or is it more that he is injury prone, a little on the frail side to handle some of the bumps and bruises that come with the game?

Even worse is this Everett thing. Could you imagine? shit...I feel indescribably sympathetic for him. You have a great life...on a pro football team, making some dough, great family, big house...and then in one instant when your trying to do your job, everything changes. Its like a car accident. How does fate decide this person or that?

It's horrifying that something like that could happen at any time during a game that I watch so often and love so much. They call it a fluke accident, unblamable on anyone really...has anyone noticed though, that so far this year, hits are seeming so much more brutal. Almost every play, I'm afraid that someone is going to get hurt...the worst part is that usually my concern is righteous.

Perhaps I am a bit biased with the Bears injuries, but there seemed to me to have been many more injuries than usual for the first week of the season. perhaps there is a stat out there that would answer that question, but thats what it seems like. Anyone else observe the same thing?
