About Me

Chicago, IL, United States
I'm just your average opinionated Bears fan. Over the years, I've gradually earned a reputation with my friends for writing ridiculously long e-mails relating to anything "Chicago Sports." I've decided to spare them the hassle of automatically clicking the 'delete' button, and created this blog instead. Why limit the reach of my obnoxious blabbering? Why not let the entire public see the rantings of DLP? My hope is that I can inspire other opinionated Chicago fans to speak their minds freely. I know you're out there. THIS is your medium...

2007 Regular Season Week 5 - Bears @ Packers

Fudge Packers....eat shit and die...I love that we beat you...

Here we go...another long one...except I'm not as pissed...not so much ranting this time.

Thank the lords of all that is holy...

That was solid.

That first half was horrible. I was about to turn off the game toward the end of the half...and most certainly would have...BUT we have Tillman back, and what a godsend that mother fucker is.

Talk about your key players coming through when you need them....at least defensively. Urlacher, Tillman, and even Briggs had extremely solid games...

Our MLB's especially in the 2nd half. I think our defense is coming back together. I would have liked to see more pressure, but I really can't complain about our defensive performance...as long as I forget about the first half...which I pretty much blame on early game anxiety and a fresh packer offense. Bears are always late to the party...thats our M.O.

Our defense has always been built to get better as the game goes on...wearing on the opponent offense. The frustrating thing about our performance thus far this season was that that was not happening...we would play worse as the game went on...4th quarter fall aparts.

I think as our injured players get back in the gameplan, we can only expect things to get better...and that means our offense hopefully wont be so "against the wall" to score points. No doubt about it, the pack got tired...and we didnt... even though our defense was on the field for an exorbitent amount of time in the first half.

Well, Bahkus, it looks like Coach Smith got the better of me this game. I called out for less conservatism in his coaching strategy, but this time it worked.

Patience was the key in this game...and Smith's "stubborness," as we referred to it, helped us a great deal in beating the Pack. I have to hand it to him...he kept the players calm...he stuck with the gameplan, and it actually worked.

I went through extreme highs and lows of feelings about the play calls: from dissappointment in the play calls to extreme joy in the end result (throw over the middle to Clark for a TD...they actually passed on 3rd and 2!) Oh! how happy I was...I thought for sure he was going to go conservative and run which would have been a terrible mistake.

Anywho, my faith is slightly (and I mean only slightly) renewed in Lovies stubborn strategies...but I do hold strong that we need to still open up the field, which I think Griese did quite well throughout (considering my previous opinions).

While I am on the subject of Griese (thanks for the spelling correction Bahkus), I suppose I have to politely admit to being incorrect (only partially) about what he can bring for this offense.

I still think we are running an offense that is not reaching its full capability with Griese at the helm. But I must admit that I suppose he is the best qb to have in right now which I aggressively disagreed with a week ago, although I did admit that he would win more games.

But I have to give myself some slack because he was a totally different quarterback during this game...which, if you recall, I did foresee in my e-mail a week ago as well. And I STILL, very staunchly, hold to my opinion that he is NOT the long term solution. But, he definitely brought the leadership that I think we needed in order to beat this, very very good packer team. It was quite a task, and he actually pulled it off. It wasnt pretty...and I dont think it ever will be, not totally...but I can see things getting a lot prettier.

It's like the bears are that awkward girl in 7th grade that it was impossible to see in any sort of romantic light...you know...the one with glasses, dealing with the onset of puberty....

...flash forward a year and there she is, a fucking hottie girl of your dreams...da bears are getting prettier...and it will be a quick transition.

I'm going to stick with this 7th grade girl analogy...despite my better judgment.

The girl's left boob, growing and looking sexier every day: Olsen.

Oh yeah. This looked fantastic. Let me tell you why. He is bringing a young intensity that our receivers direly need to take inspiration from. When he would catch a pass and immediately get put down...he would be pissed. He WANTED to bust the big one and you could tell that he was going to, and most importantly, CAN at some point do it consistently.

I think he gave us some serious evidence that this could be a pretty incredible addition to the offense...the question is, how often can we work him in there...or more importantly, how often WILL we? LOVIIIIEE?

This weapon is right up Greise's alley...and I think this could be a dangerously attractive and sexy boob someday.

Since all sexy women have two boobs, it is my pleasure to mention the other one: Clark

Or more specifically, the chemistry between Griese and Clark. This is good news. This is the consistent boob. You can always count on this boob to be perfectly vuluptuous and tasty. I'm right handed, so for me, this would be the right boob.

It subconciously gets more attention and in some secret way, I think I am more attracted to it. It bounces so nicely...but you cant over-use it.

Here's the thing, Clark is money...he will catch the ball and he will do what he is asked...but more importantly, Griese has confidence to throw to him. TEs are Griese's best friends right now, and I think they should be. Clark should remain an integral part of the offense...in fact, I dont think we win another game without him on the field.

So - just as when young ladies finally get boobs, everything changes for them...so does the development of two sexy TE being worked into an offense.

If Lovie can do this well with these two guys, this could change everything for us this year. I think last nights game made it obvious of what the potential is with these guys in, either tag teaming or double TE formations...I dont care. Get them involved and I have no doubt success will follow.

Last night, gentlemen, we just saw a little cleavage. I want Lovie to get that shirt off and on the floor. I want to see some naked boobies!

Here's the problem, our developing sexy 7th grade chick analogy may have nicely developing boobs...but she has short and unappealing legs right now.

No worries fellas, shes still growing...i hope. Benson sucked. And thats who I'm referring to with the non-sexy legs right now. Something needs to happen here. I saw flashes of something, (it wasn't greatness) but it WAS betterness. The guy has no vision. He runs and falls. I really don't get it. We need something to happen and I'm not sure its coming.

Did anyone notice how gassed he seemed toward the end of the game? Is this a lack of training issue? Is he ill prepared for carrying the full load? Will this improve in time? Is it lack of experience thats making it seem like he runs toward people... and not thru holes, or away from people?

I just dont understand how he is having such a problem now that he is in the NFL vs. when he was in college. It's the same concept...run away from people, run people over, move forward without dropping the ball. Somewhere along the way, he apparently started seeing the defensive players as comfortable pillows to run and jump on. WTF??

It's like he's never even tried being an RB before...like Lovie just went walking around looking for some big guy on the street and said "hey, can you run?"...

Look, if your not going to be that agile "cheetah" type running back, which Benson most certainly is not...when are you going to become that brutal run-you-over running back that we drafted and expected? Or just be able to turn the corner? ...hes young...shouldnt he be able to do this better?

Okay, I can complain all day long, but bottom line is... what is the solution? I don't know, but I'll tell you what I would do until a solution becomes more evident.

I would initiate a more consistent RB rotation. Who says Benson has to carry the load now? Make him share again... he hasn't earned shit. Use all three of them. I havn't seen one that stands out as obviously the best anyway. Keep them all fresh, and use them all.

Maybe, in time, Benson will break out as the standout...but right now, hes getting tired and hes worse than useless to us that way...he has a negative affect.

We need our running game to be a solid threat, and I think it can be if running styles are interchanged and we can tire out the opponent defense while we stay fresh.

And the ever important personality of our hypothetical girl analogy?: Hester

As we all know, a girls personality can make it or break it. To me, its the most important part....besides the face, boobs, legs, ass...heh. But seriously, its important.

I love how Hester changes the way people would normally play the game. He had no big plays this game, but make no mistake, he definitely had a huge effect on the game.

This wont change...we have this in the bag for as long as we have hester on our team...and I love it. He's not only a spark, most of the time... when you need it the most, but he is the exclamation point on top of our defense stopping you...not only did we stop you, but NOW you have to punt to Hester...or be pussys and kick away, your choice.

HAHA...it doesnt get better than this. This hypothetical girl is COOL as hell. Great personality!

I dont think theres a player on any team that affects an opposing teams approach to transitioning the football as much as Hester...this is the most important part of a game to affect.

Sexy girls....Bears......what more could you ask for in an email?
